Сьогодні в це складно повірити, але до iPhone компанія Apple теж мала історію. Щоправда, виникнення цього продукту розділило історію Apple на “до і після”. Навіть назва корпорації, яка існувала понад 30 років, змінилася з Apple Computer на Apple — комп’ютери більше не були основним продуктом компанії, флагманом став iPhone.

Багато в чому завдяки iPhone Apple стала найдорожчою за рівнем капіталізації компаній у світі, досягнувши капіталізації 2,43 трильйона доларів.

Історія моделей iPhone

Перший iPhone з’явився у 2007 році. Він був зовсім не схожий на те, що можна купити в магазинах Apple сьогодні: перший iPhone не працював із мережами 3G, не міг орієнтуватися за допомогою GPS, знімати відео, у нього не було селфі камери, а основна камера мала роздільну здатність лише 2 мегапікселі. У конкурентів це все було.

Що було у першого айфона такого, що дозволило продати понад 1,39 мільйонів пристроїв на суму 630 мільйонів доларів?

Унікальний клієнтський досвід. Поки всі виробники телефонів змагалися в тому, щоб зробити екран більшим, але не втратити зручність роботи з кнопками, Apple запропонувала iPhone взагалі без клавіатури. Тільки екран 3,5 дюйми з роздільною здатністю 320×480 пікселів.

Такий вигляд мав найперший iPhone

Новий мобільний телефон у перший рік завоював менше 1% ринку, але став першим смартфоном, із сенсорним екраном, яким було дійсно зручно користуватися.

Того ж року Nokia продала 133,5 млн телефонів, а це в 96 разів більше, ніж Apple. Найпопулярнішою моделлю тоді була Nokia 1100.

З часом виявилося, що споживачу потрібно саме те, що запропонував iPhone — фізична клавіатура просто не потрібна, якщо є швидкий та чутливий тачскрін.

Тепер всі вже рівнялися на iPhone. І якщо в 2007 році 60% ринку належало Nokia, то через 4 роки Apple продавала більше пристроїв.

Насправді першим мобільним телефоном із сенсорним екраном був IBM Simon, що надійшов у продаж у 1994 році за ціною $899. Але цей смартфон був незручним, тому виявився нікому не потрібним.

У 2008 році з’явився iPhone 3G, як зрозуміло з назви – з можливістю роботи в 3G мережах. А за рік iPhone 3GS з можливістю запису відео.

Принципових відмінностей у 3G від першої моделі було небагато, але найголовніше потрібно згадати: магазин додатків App Store вперше з’явився саме на моделі 3G.

Незважаючи на це iPhone 3G було продано вже 5,63 млн штук у 2008 році, а у грошовому вираженні продажі склали 1,8 мільярда доларів. Тобто за рік Apple збільшила прибуток від продажів iPhone в 2,8 рази.

Але вже через рік ця цифра зросла в 20 разів у порівнянні з першим роком продажів (iPhone 3G продавався ще 3 роки після дебюту, а 3GS — чотири. – Ред.).

У 2009 році продажі смартфонів приносили компанії вже 30% від сукупного доходу.

У 2010 році Apple нарешті серйозно оновила свій флагманський продукт: iPhone 4 мав новий дизайн, Retina екран із роздільною здатністю 960×640. Телефон працював за допомогою процесора власної розробки – Apple A4. До цього використовувалися процесори Samsung.

iPhone 5 надійшов у продаж у вересні 2012 року та поставив новий рекорд продажів. Два мільйони телефонів було продано на замовлення всього за одну годину. А лише п’ята модель розійшлася у світі тиражем близько 70 мільйонів пристроїв.

Нічим особливим від попередньої моделі він не відрізнявся, трохи більший екран, новіша операційна система, але все та ж відмінна якість і вподобання користувачів. Щоб купити новий айфон, люди вишиковувалися у довгі черги і навіть ночували біля магазинів.

Через рік на ринок було випущено iPhone 5s. З нового можна відзначити датчик відбитка пальців 64-розрядний процесор A7.

У 2013 році доходи, отримані від продажів смартфонів, перевищили 50% усієї виручки компанії Apple і цілих 7 років не опускалися нижче цієї позначки. Стало очевидним, що історія успіху Apple це історія успіху iPhone.

Найпопулярніший iPhone в історії

iPhone 6 став найпопулярнішим смартфоном лінійки, у продаж він надійшов у 2014 році, але продовжував вироблятися до 2018 року. Так довго на полицях магазинів жодна модель ще не затримувалась.

Саме ця модель вважається найпопулярнішим iPhone за всю історію. Загалом було продано 224 мільйони iPhone 6 та iPhone 6 Plus. За перші 3 дні офіційного продажу було придбано 10 мільйонів пристроїв.

Багатьох користувачів гнітив той факт, що новий телефон гнеться, і через це горезвісна якість Apple відчувається якось менш «гостро». Але навіть цей факт не зміг вплинути на бажання придбати новий iPhone у сотень мільйонів людей у всьому світі.

Натомість саме шоста модель навчила світ платити за допомогою телефона, тоді вперше з’явився Apple Pay та чіп NFC.

Того року обсяг продажів смартфонів Apple перевищив 100 мільярдів доларів.

У 2015 році продажі Apple зросли до 235,5 млрд доларів. З них 155 мільярдів – це частка iPhone. Моделі iPhone 6 та оновлений iPhone 6s дозволили збільшити виторг продажів смартфонів у півтора рази.

iPhone 7 з’явився на ринку в 2016. Новий телефон мав і новий процесор, і операційну систему, але не було традиційного 3,5 мм роз’єму для навушників.

Ризикований крок, позбавляти користувачів можливості слухати музику через улюблені навушники. Важко з упевненістю сказати з цієї причини, але обсяги продажів iPhone у 2016 році вперше були нижчим, ніж у попередньому.

Поява iPhone 8 у 2017 році збільшила продажі, але лише на 3%. Не всі власники айфонів розуміли, навіщо варто купувати новий телефон, видимих відмінностей було не так багато.

У тому ж році Apple перестрибнула через одну цифру і випустила одразу iPhone X (X – означає 10). Все тому що цей рік був ювілейним, перший iPhone з’явився 10 років тому. Саме в 10-й моделі вперше було застосовано технологію Face ID.

Вартість базової моделі становила $999 доларів. Це було зростання вартості більш як на 40%. Але, незважаючи на ціну, Apple спромоглася продати понад 60 мільйонів ювілейних смартфонів у перший рік.

Природно, що зі зростанням ціни зріс і прибуток від продажу. Цікаво, що «вісімка» залишалася у продажу 3 роки, а ювілейна модель перестала бути доступною вже через рік, а її місце зайняла лінійка iPhone XS з новим процесором та покращеною камерою.

U.S.: Apple’s biggest market

The high revenue generated from the Americas is largely due to Apple’s strong performance in their home market, the United States. Apple has the largest market share among smartphone vendors in the U.S. by a large margin. Although international sales have a growing share of Apple’s total revenue, the U.S. still counts for over 44 percent of Apple’s net sales. The U.S. also has the highest concentration of Apple stores, which is Apple’s own chain of retail stores that showcase and sell Apple’s various products including the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, among others.

iPhone: Apple’s most profitable product

The iPhone, initially released in 2007, became Apple’s most successful product: The share of iPhone sales consistently amount to more than 40 percent of Apple’s overall share of sales.
