What is this site about?

You can read more about this site and my coin collection in the ABOUT section. Here I would like to add just a few words about the purpose of creating this simple site.

I have been interested in coins of the world for a long time: I consider 1993 the year of the beginning of my hobby. I tried myself in various numismatic topics: the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union, all countries (tried to collect at least one coin from all countries and territories of the world, which for 20-21 centuries minted coins — according to the Standard Catalog of World Coins /so-called Krause catalogs/). In 20 years, the collection has been replenished with 2400+ different coins by 290 issuers.

After that, I focused all my efforts on a new and, in my opinion, the most interesting and quite original topic: coins of different names. I already have 500+ coin names in my collection (I’m adding them to the site gradually).

And now, in fact, the answer to the question “Why is this site created?” — It’s simple: I WANT TO FIND SIMILAR PEOPLE — THOSE WHO HAVE EXACTLY THE SAME TOPIC (AT LEAST 1 COIN OF MAXIMUM NUMBER OF NAMES). It is very interesting what this number can be in practice in a private collection…

I have not met followers of such a topic in Ukraine yet. That is why it was decided to create English site that is more or less understandable to most numismatists around the world.

By the way, over the years of collecting I have not met not only like-minded people, but even thematic literature on the names of coins. Yes, there are many numismatic dictionaries. But in addition to the names of the coins, they describe a variety of numismatic terms and concepts that do not relate to my collection theme. And such works do not mention all historical coin names… Some sources, often thorough, serious works (for example, A DICTIONARY OF NUMISMATIC NAMES: THEIR OFFICIAL AND POPULAR DESIGNATIONS by ALBERT R. FREY) abuse conventional, local, unofficial names. I am only interested in denomination names (with rare exceptions). In my opinion, throughout the history of mankind, coins of about 1,000 names have been used in all parts of the world. But perhaps this number is much higher.

1 гривня 2006 року – обігова монета України. Тираж становив 100 млн шт.

Відомо 4 різновиди гривні 2006 року. Аверс і реверс у всіх різновидів однаковий, відмінності є лише у шрифтах на гурті. На жаль, на ціну монети це ніяк не впливає, всі різновиди коштують відповідно до номіналу.

Рідкісною вважається лише 1 гривня 2006 року з гладким гуртом, тобто без написів.

Скільки коштує 1 гривня 2006 р.

У 2020 році на аукціоні Віоліті 1 гривню 2006 р. “Володимир Великий” з гладким гуртом продали за 1502 гривні. Того ж року на аукціоні ІТК гривню з гладким гуртом купили за 2300 грн.

Іноді на аукціон виставляють гривні з браком: непрочекан аверсу, реверса або гурта. Такі монети продають за 50-100 грн.

Не вважається рідкісною гривня, у якої перевернутий напис на гурті. Таке зустрічається доволі часто і на вартість монети не впливає.

Трохи більше за номінал нумізмати можуть дати за 1 гривню з банківського рола (це монети, які не були в обігу).

З 2020 року жовті гривні поступово виводяться з обігу, тому знайти їх буде складніше. Не поспішайте здавати в банк такі монети, передивіться чи немає серед них монет 1 гривня рідкісних років.
